We all need a look that requires little to no effort coming up with yet brings out the stylish side of us. Whether it’s for an occasion or a simple hang out. A monochromatic outfit offers all that.

Your Brief ;

  1. Add a statement piece to your look.
  2. Mix texture.
  3. Stick to one pattern.
  4. Give the eye somewhere to rest.
  5. Combination is key .

Factors to consider when going monochromatic.

What factors do you consider while buying clothes? Are you the type that makes sure you have something to pair it with or the other that buys as long as it pleases the eye and it fits. I’m the latter which is both good and bad. Good in the sense that I’m open to all the possible ways i can wear a particular piece, bad in that i often find myself impulse buying and I have to declutter my wardrobe every once in a while.

1. Colour of the clothe.

A most important factor to consider before making a purchase, If you are new to this whole monochromatic world, don’t worry I got you. First step is to buy pieces of the same colour but different shades. I know how comfortable we are with darker shades but it’s time to get out of that comfort zone.

I’ll stop wearing black when they discover a darker shade.” I totally relate with that but once in a while i do like testing waters on the other side.

What is your favorite colour? Why is it your favourite?Do you buy pieces of that particular colour? How many shades does it have? Would you wear a whole outfit top to bottom of your favorite color?

A monochromatic outfit is one that consists of clothes of the same colour but different shades. In my case I chose green, a colour of calmness and relaxation. It also provides a sense of vitality and renewal. I combined that with red, a colour that symbolizes passion, confidence, strength, energy, stimulation, courage and attention.

While the look can be intimidating,it is actually quite easy to pull off.

Going all black is never a bad idea. It looks chic and sophisticated. About pairing a monochromatic outfit with other colours,in both pictures Joy Kendi decided to go for a colour pop with the shoes.Which one do you prefer?White or brown? In both instances she has the right shoes for the outfit. Let me know on the comment section below if you need pointers on the type of shoes to pair with what outfits.

2. How to Make Monochromatic Outfits Stylish.

1.Add a statement piece. It could be a watch or a necklace your pick. Accesorize hunny.

3.Stick to one pattern. This is important especially if bright colors are involved. Looking like a clown is not our target here.

4.Give the eye somewhere to rest. Keep it simple. Choose less floral and less printed pieces.

5. Combination is key. Combine a bold colour with a deep colour then neutral colour.

There you have it, a foolproof look.

My favorite colour is purple. I like it due to the psychology of it in branding and the calmness yet intriguing effect it has. I’d say it gives a mysterious vibe. Despite my love for the colour purple I don’t have as many clothes of that particular colour. There are more than 200 shades of purple and yes I’d wear it top to bottom.
