Bringing to your attention the best six new singles from all over the African content
1.Rhumba ya Ssaru- Ssaru ft Charisma (Kenya)
The rise of the talented Kenyan femcee Sylvia Ssaru has been prominent since last year and once again she dropped another banger featuring Charisma. The song starts off with a beautiful Luhya hook sang by Charisma as Ssaru strongly delivers on her verses depicting a long pre-existing relationship of a couple that had lost touch with each other and finally managed to get back together after a long time. The sound is a melodic rhumba tune fused with hip-hop beats with a distinctive guitar solo played by Jack Muguna. The track is produced by Jay Strings.
2.Anything- Sarkodie (Ghana)
Sarkodie as expected delivers on this Altranova produced track from his sixth studio album, ‘No Pressure’. He addresses the current social media problem of people going to extremes just to acquire clout for a few likes. He questions the purpose of his fellow artists who fake their lifestyle but yet are struggling in real life. The instrumental is laid back with an ear-catching trumpet being played in the background chorus.
3.Jealous- Alikiba ft Mayorkun (Tanzania)
Tanzania’s bongo star Alikiba joins forces with Mayorkun to give us a beautiful blend of afrobeat with bongo. The song has a nice bop and danceable rhythm to it and is for certain a club banger. Both artists address the insecurity of their lovers and reassure them that all will be well.
4.Izolo-Dj Maphorisa & Tyler ICU ft Madumane, Daliwonga, Visca, and Mpura (South Africa)
This song is beautifully crafted as Daliwonga opens up the track with his angelic voice with a beautiful flow. Madumane kills it with the bridge as Mpura (RIP) continues with his verse barely changing the vibe of the song. Dj Maphorisa does not disappoint with the currently hot trending amapiano beats as we get to enjoy this song from his album Banyana.
5.Lie- Kizz Daniel (Nigeria)
Serving as his first single of the year, Kizz sings from a personal point of view where he confesses his intentions are true and love is honest. The track is a beautiful fusion of afrobeat rhythms with R&B harmonies with a reggae groove. It is produced by Philkeys and Blaize Beats.
6.Need Me- Gyakie (Ghana)
Gyakie delivers her addictive angelic voice on this elegant soulful love track. The words are simple yet powerful and the background humming adds more texture to the song and maintains the chill vibe throughout the whole track. It is definitely one of the best African tracks this year so far.
